Clinical Research Platforms Evaluation Committee (CRPE) Progress Report

The Clinical Research Platforms Evaluation Committee (CRPE) was established in early February 2019 comprised of 18 active clinical research stakeholders, including clinical research team members representing both VCU and VCUHS. The goal of the CRPE was to review existing electronic platforms that support clinical research operations. 

The committee was charged by ONE VCU Clinical Research executive sponsors (Dr. Srirama Rao and Dr. Marsha Rappley) to:

  • Inventory and review existing electronic platforms supporting clinical research operations
  • Identify the various opportunities for improvement through system platform changes, upgrades, and improved interoperability
  • Evaluate avenues of support for the system(s)
  • Recommend a pathway for long term system financial support and governance. 

PROGRESS REPORT:

(3) Inventory of current systems completed

(4) Needs assessment outlined and documented

(5) Exploration of the marketplace identified potential systems

(6) Systems demonstrations completed

(7) Refined systems requirements finalized

(1) Product evaluation test site (sandbox)

(2) Request for Proposals (RFP)

(3) Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis

(4) Final report and recommendations for executive sponsors
