Upcoming COACHE survey gives faculty members a chance to have their say!

Dear Faculty,
As we begin the new year we are focused on advancing the university’s culture of care for our faculty.
Accordingly, VCU will participate in the COACHE Faculty Job Satisfaction Survey, administered by the Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education at Harvard University in the spring 2025 semester. Your participation is vital, and I encourage you to complete this survey when it launches in February.
The results will help us all better understand the challenges and opportunities you encounter on a regular basis; it means finding smart and intentional ways to help you grow in your research, teaching, and service; and it means ensuring that VCU is a choice destination for talented professors seeking the next step in their career journey.
Looking ahead, we plan to establish faculty working groups in fall 2025 to aid in interpreting the results and to create and prioritize recommendations and action plans. Faculty will be involved throughout the entire process as we prioritize collaboration and transparency.
Our implementation of the survey is guided by a faculty steering committee co-chaired by Dr. Mangala Subramaniam, senior vice provost for faculty affairs, and Dr. Maria Rivera, professor and president of the VCU Faculty Senate.
I would urge you to review the frequently asked questions on the website and reach out to the co-chairs should you have any questions or concerns about this survey.
Best regards,
Fotis Sotiropoulos, Ph.D.
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
Professor of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering
