VCU Community Engagement starts fast on big year
The VCU Division of Community Engagement (DCE) is actively collaborating with partners to identify community needs and drive impactful initiatives.
This fall, they will launch a Faculty Learning Collaborative focused on best practices for assessing the impact on community engagement. Additionally, as part of their efforts for the Carnegie Community Engaged University reclassification, they initiated three surveys for faculty and community partners to gather insights on community engagement activities across VCU and with community partners.
A major highlight of our efforts is the Mary and Frances Youth Center (MFYC) launching the first-ever VCU Advanced Certificate in Youth Development Management. This program, developed in collaboration with RichmondYDN, is designed to equip professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the dynamic field of youth development.
Looking ahead, they are preparing to introduce new student volunteer opportunities, workforce development initiatives, and faculty-service projects within their priority partner communities and place-based sites, including the VCU Health Hub at 25th and the Mary and Frances Youth Center. You can learn more at community.vcu.edu, reach out to us at [email protected], and be on the lookout for the division’s monthly newsletter starting in September!
