Phishing Email – Subject Line: ‘(VCU); or ‘[EXTERNAL] (VCU Health) E-mail quota’ – 8/30/2019
Phishers never take a break, especially before a long holiday. This particular email was sent out on Friday after. The phisher is attempting to be ‘VCU HelpIt’ and they need you to re-validate your email. Here are some warning signs that this email is not legitimate:
- The ‘VCU helpIT’ center has not been called that in many years (It is now the IT Support Center)
- There are misspellings (‘Dear (VCU Health) Accouunt User)
- The actual email is from ‘awebmail369@gmail’. This is not a valid VCU email address.
- They are linking to a non-VCU website
