More than 140 Pharm.D. and graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) students will graduate from VCU School of Pharmacy in May. Congratulations to one and all! Celebrations and observances include the following events, all in Richmond:

May 12

  •  Pharm.D. and graduate class of 2017 Hooding and Diploma Ceremony, with guest speaker Marcia Buck of the SOP’s U.Va. Division, 2 p.m., St. Paul’s Baptist Church, 4247 Creighton Road. (Students arrive by 1 p.m., faculty arrive by 1:30 p.m.) Graduate students will be hooded by their respective faculty advisors, and Pharm.D. students will be hooded by faculty marshals Krista Donohoe and Ben Van Tassell. This year, class of 2017 students Jeffrey McKenzie, Michael Lee, Alvin Maraya and Erin Hickey will sing the National Anthen. Opening and closing remarks will be made by Dean Joseph T. DiPiro. Skylar White will present the class gift, and Kyle Mullins will deliver the senior class address. The graduates will be presented by K.C. Ogbonna, associate dean for admissions and students services, and Aron Lichtman, associate dean for research and graduate studies. Faculty member Emily Peron will administer the Pharmacist’s Oath for Pharm.D. students.
  • Pharm.D. class of 2017 Senior Awards Banquet, 6-6:45 p.m. cash bar reception and 7-9:30 p.m. dinner and awards, Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa at Short Pump, 12042 W. Broad St.

May 13

  • 2017 VCU Commencement, with guest speaker Sen. Tim Kaine, 10 a.m., Richmond Coliseum, 601 E. Leigh St. (Students and faculty arrive by 9 a.m., use the Leigh Street entrance.)

May 25

  • 20th Annual Graduate Awards Banquet, with guest speaker/alumna Kellie Schoolar Reynolds of the FDA, 11:30 a.m., Omni Richmond Hotel, 100 S. 12th St.
