Service Awards honorees: Wow, that was a quick 190 years …
It’s that time of year again! Time to recognize MCV Campus and VCU Health System employees who have worked at the university for years … and, in some cases, years and years.
Fifteen School of Pharmacy employees — who have accrued a total of 190 years of service! — have been invited to a VCU Service Awards Program Reception 2:30-4 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Larrick Center, 900 Turpin St.
Kudos to all! You are to be congratulated.
This year, leading the pack in number of years served is Tom Reinders, associate dean for admissions and student services, who has been working for the university since the end of August 1974 (so he actually has been here 36 years, but the cut-off for recognition is Aug. 1). His tenure includes 14 years as director of pharmacy for MCV Hospitals.
Reinders, along with Cindy Kirkwood and Nancy Yunker, each of whom have put in 25 years, have been offered a milestone gift of a solid walnut end table crafted by Daniel Rickey, whose first formal woodworking instruction was at VCU.
