Kai “Annie” I. Cheang, assistant professor in the school’s Department of Pharmacy, won a top award at the university’s Fourth Annual Women’s Health Research Day.

The event, sponsored by the VCU Institute for Women’s Health, featured 56 poster presentations representing more than 30 departments from across the university. Of those, six presentations were recognized in three categories: clinical, basic science and behavioral.

Cheang won the top award in the clinical category for her poster, “Relative Importance of Obesity, Insulin Resistance and Metabolic Syndrome in the Elderly: Risk of Cardiovascular Events.”

Also, School of Pharmacy alumna Pamela M. Dillon (P ’97) was part of a Women’s Health Research Panel that discussed “Translational Research in Women’s Health: Opportunities to Integrate Basic and Clinical Research With Patient Care.” Dillon is a research liaison for VCU’s Center for Clinical and Translational Research.
