Postcards from Chicago: Thinking globally
As the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy meeting in Chicago winds down, today’s jampacked schedule includes a Science Plenary, “Global Health: Wellness, Illness and Infectious Disease.”
VCU School of Pharmacy Dean Victor A. Yanchick will moderate the plenary. Keynote speakers will be Scott G. Franzblau, professor in the department of medicinal chemistry and pharmacognosy at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and Angus Deaton, Dwight D. Eisenhower professor of economics and international affairs at Princeton University.
Franzblau will discuss the latest drug discoveries in regard to infectious disease, and Deaton will address global health and economics.
Tonight’s closing awards banquet, according to aacp.org, will celebrate the organization and membership’s collective accomplishments. It will also usher in the new administration under the leadership of 2008-09 AACP President Yanchick.
