If the halls of Smith and McGuire look a little vacant the next few days, it’s because about 25 School of Pharmacy faculty and staff — as well as fourth-year Pharm.D. student Antoinette Coe — are headed for the 2008 meeting of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.

The annual meeting, held this year in conjunction with the Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada, will take place July 19-23 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers. More than 1,800 pharmacy educators and students are expected to attend.

School of Pharmacy Dean Victor Yanchick will be installed during the meeting as AACP president. He’s the university’s first AACP president since Dean Emeritus Warren Weaver held the position.

AACP, founded in 1900, comprises the 105 United States colleges and schools of pharmacy, including more than 4,300 faculty members, 48,500 students in professional programs and 3,600 graduate students.
