VCU Parking and Transportation

News & information

Beginning August 1, RMA Worldwide will provide RamRide shuttle service to and from our remote parking facilities–A Lot, I Lot, M Lot and R Lot. RMA was selected through a competitive bid process and will replace Groome Transportation, whose contract expires at the end of this month.

RMA Worldwide, based out of Washington, DC, provides executive chauffeur and shuttle services in more than 600 cities across the country and maintains a focus on quality, customer service and communication.

What this means for you

RamRide service will not be interrupted, and all stops and schedules will remain the same. Under the new contract, RMA Worldwide will supply a new fleet of VCU-branded, low-floor transit-style buses for easier and faster boarding. However, prior to the new buses arriving, there will be an 18-month transition period where an interim fleet of vehicles will be used.

Changes you can expect during the transition period

  • Different buses- An interim fleet of cutaway minibuses will be used to service each route until the permanent bus fleet arrives. Signage on buses will indicate the designated route.
  • New boarding process- Instead of scanning your VCU or VCU Health System ID card, you will simply flash your card to the RamRide driver upon boarding.
  • New tracking system- Transloc will no longer be used for GPS tracking. Beginning August 1, passengers will track RamRide buses in real time using the Ride Systems platform, which can be downloaded now through Google Play and iOs app stores or on VCU Mobile on August 1.
