VCU School of Nursing earns CCNE accreditation renewal
VCU School of Nursing recently earned accreditation for another 10 years from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). An autonomous accrediting agency, CCNE ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate and master’s degree programs in nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs, post-graduate advanced practice registered nurse certificate programs, and entry-to-practice nurse residency programs.
The accreditation process involved the school completing a comprehensive self-study and hosting a virtual two-day site visit from a CCNE review team.
“I’m so proud of the efforts of all our faculty, staff, and university and community partners for their part in this recognition of excellence,” said Jean Giddens, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, dean and professor of the School of Nursing. “This is evidence of our ongoing commitment to providing a high-quality education in support of the current and future nursing workforce.”
VCU School of Nursing’s accredited programs include pre-licensure accelerated and traditional B.S. programs, an RN to B.S. program, nurse practitioner and nurse executive pathways in both the M.S. and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs, and nurse practitioner post-professional certificates.
The school’s undergraduate programs are ranked in the top 4% nationwide in the latest U.S. News and World Report listing of the best nursing schools. The school is also ranked at No. 12 for the Nursing Leadership and Organizational Science specialty, No. 32 for master’s online program, No. 33 for the master’s program, and No. 38 for the DNP program.
