Dr. Jean Giddens Elected to AACN’s Nominating Committee
Jean Giddens, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, professor and dean of the VCU School of Nursing, was elected by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) membership to the Nominating Committee for a two-year term. As a Nominating Committee member, Giddens will assist with reviewing and evaluating applications submitted from individuals seeking to serve on the Board of Directors as well as the Nominating Committee.
In addition to her new role at AACN, Giddens will serve on the Program Planning Committees for the Master’s Conference, Executive Development Series, and Faculty Development Conference. She currently serves as secretary for the Virginia Association of Schools of Nursing and is on the editorial board of the Journal of Professional Nursing (JPN).
AACN is the national voice for university and four-year college education programs in nursing -representing more than 750 schools of nursing nationwide. AACN works to establish quality standards for nursing education, assist deans and directors to implement those standards, influence the nursing profession to improve health care, and promote public support of baccalaureate and graduate nursing education, research, and practice.
