Alison Montpetit, Ph.D., RN, assistant professor in the Department of Adult Health and Nursing Systems, has been named a 2015 Blick Scholar.

The Blick Scholars Program is funded by the George and Lavinia Blick Research Fund, an endowment designated to support medical research on the MCV Campus. It is given every four years to a maximum of ten junior faculty on the MCV campus.

Blick Scholars are selected through a highly competitive nomination process that includes documented growth toward achievement of national or international recognition, a developing record of obtaining external research funding, collaborative scholarship, and a primary faculty appointment in one of the health sciences schools. The awards provide $15,000 for each of four years to support the research agenda of the Blick Scholars.

Montpetit’s research focuses on exhaled breath biomarkers and their relationship with clinical outcomes, specifically in the mechanically ventilated, critically population and adults experiencing rib fractures.
