Students in a community health class taught by Thomas Brunner, M.S., RN, clinical assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Health Nursing, recently volunteered at the second annual Hoops for Health and Healthy Living Festival held at the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club. The students helped recruit and organize 20 non-profit vendors for the healthy living portion of the event. More than 250 attendees were present. The vendors included the Science Museum of Virginia, Tricycle Gardens, the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, the Richmond Public Library, Coventry Cares of Virginia, the Virginia Poison Center, and our own Sue McGinnis, director of systems and academic and administrative technology, who provided information on internet safety.
