The VCU School of Nursing team dominated the medical mile race of the Broad Street Mile event on Saturday with nursing student Kyle Jones crossing the finish line first in a time of 5:34.  The Broad Street Mile was a VCU-sponsored city-wide event that offered participants the opportunity to compete in fun runs, raise money for scholarships and enjoy a festival on Richmond’s main thoroughfare. SON faculty and staff who participated in the medical mile included Dean Jean Giddens, Carla Nye, director of the Clinical Learning Center;  Angela Flagg, director of communications; Tanya Huff, clinical assistant professor in the Department of Adult Health and Nursing Systems; Genevieve Beaird, assistant director of the Clinical Learning Center; Jamaal Ellis, simulation technician; and Jalessa Holmes, clinical lab assistant.  The School of Nursing also had a booth in the festival part of the event to share general information and promotional items. A special thank you to the following committee members for helping to organize the School’s booth: Kelly Gotschalk, director of annual giving and alumni engagement; Teri Smith, administrative professional; Erica Stubblefield, pre-admission academic advisor; Samantha Frazier-Powell, administrative professional; and Ethan Scott, development assistant.
