As part of observing its 120th anniversary in 2013, the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Nursing is seeking nominations to honor 120 alumni and faculty members, both living and deceased, as Visionary Leaders.

Nominees must be graduates or current/past faculty members of the VCU, Medical College of Virginia, St. Philip, or Richmond Professional Institute schools of nursing. Nomination forms are available on the VCU Nursing website and must be submitted by Friday, Feb. 1, 2013.

Each nomination will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

• Nominee has rendered distinctive service in the field of nursing and health care on the local, state, national and/or international level(s) in clinical practice, education or scholarship/research.
• Nominee is recognized by colleagues and peers for outstanding achievement.
• Nominee has demonstrated evidence of leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship.

For nominations submitted by email, the subject line should read VCU Nursing Visionary Leader (Nominee’s Name) and be sent to scottem2@vcu.edu. Faxed or mailed applications should be addressed to the VCU Nursing Visionary Leader Nomination Committee c/o VCU School of Nursing Development Office, P.O. Box 980567, Richmond, VA 23298-0567.

Previous MCV Alumni Association Nursing Award and VCU Alumni Star winners will be automatically nominated. A list of past winners can be found here.
