Lana Sargent, Ph.D., RN, FNP-C, GNP-BC, assistant professor at the VCU School of Nursing, was selected to represent the Intramural Research Program at the National Institutes of Health as a participant in the 2019 Butler-Williams Scholars Program. The program provides qualified health disparities researchers the opportunity to further their research through lectures, seminars and small group discussions about gerontological research design, including issues relevant to aging of racial and ethnic minorities. Sargent’s research focuses on neurogenetics and bioinformatics to develop disease prediction models for the detection and prevention of physical and cognitive decline in older adults.

This prestigious, highly competitive program will be held July 30-August 3, 2019, at the NIH in Bethesda, Maryland.
