School of Nursing faculty member elected AHA fellow
Kyungeh An, Ph.D.,RN, FAHA, associate professor at the VCU School of Nursing, was elected a fellow of the American Heart Association. Fellowship recognizes and awards premium professional members for excellence, innovative and sustained contributions in the areas of scholarship, practice and/or education, and volunteer service within the AHA/ASA.
An has been a member of AHA since 2007, serving as a member of the Council on Cardiovascular Nursing. Her research focuses on identifying biobehavioral risks of cardiovascular disease among breast cancer survivors. She is a member of the VCU Massey Cancer Center research faculty and has collaborated with oncologists to rapidly influence the care protocol to prevent CVD risks and mortality among breast cancer survivors.
Throughout her 18-year teaching career, An has incorporated her research knowledge and AHA’s published data into her courses, facilitating students’ exposure to research. She has been on the board for three journals and has reviewed manuscripts for more than eight journals, including Heart and Lung.
An will be inducted during a ceremony in November at the AHA 2019 Scientific Sessions in Philadelphia.
