Shelly Orr receives grant from the VCU Johnson Center
Shelly Orr, Ph.D., RN, CNE, clinical assistant professor at the VCU School of Nursing, recently received a $49,219 grant from the VCU Johnson Center for Critical Care and Pulmonary Research. Orr is co-principal investigator with Brian Cassel, Ph.D., associate professor at the School of Medicine, on a project titled “Giving voice to those who are silent: A pilot study examining the use of biomarkers for assessing pain in the ICU.” Study collaborators include Theresa Swift-Scanlan, Ph.D., RN, associate professor and director of the School of Nursing’s Biobehavioral Research Lab; R.K. Elswick, professor and biostatistician at the School of Nursing; and Egidio Del Fabbro, M.D., associate professor at the School of Medicine.
