VCU School of Nursing participates in WE CARE Festival
Candace Johnson, Ph.D., M.P.H., RN, assistant professor at the VCU School of Nursing, recently shared health tips with attendees at the 11th Annual WE CARE Festival, the Northside’s largest event dedicated to health, wellness and community empowerment. The festival’s name is an acronym for wellness, education, community awareness and resident empowerment.
Johnson conducted blood pressure screenings, waistline measurements, and weight/BMI to help attendees understand their cardiovascular disease risk level. She interacted with over 50 women, men and children sharing health information and promotional materials. One attendee in particular, Michelle Butler (pictured below with Johnson), had been coming to the Health & Wellness Zone at the festival since it began 11 years ago.
