Community and Population Health Nursing (NURS 416) students assigned to the Chesterfield Health Department for their clinical experience participated in a student-learning initiative aimed to inform the community of the threat of infection from Zika virus. Their posters are on display within the Chesterfield Health Department for all residents to view. The purpose of the poster is to inform the viewing community of the threat of becoming infected with Zika virus, especially to pregnant women or those attempting pregnancy, and to promote methods for prevention. A significant portion of the area’s population seeks women’s health services at their local health department making this a unique opportunity for students to engage with the community in promoting health and wellness for mothers, their babies and other family members.
