Wilsie S. Bishop, D.P.A. (B.S.’70/N; M.S.’78/N), vice president for health affairs and the chief operating officer at East Tennessee State University, will be recognized on Nov. 6 at the VCU Alumni Stars event. The Alumni Star award recognizes alumni for their career and humanitarian achievements, as well as the infinite possibilities they bring to the future. Bishop currently has administrative responsibility for the five colleges of the ETSU Academic Health Sciences Center, which include Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health. She has over 30 years of experience as an accreditation visitor for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges and recently completed a six-year term on the Board of Trustees for the Commission on Colleges. She has also served a three-year term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Academic Health Centers. In 2013, she was named one of 120 Visionary Leaders in celebration of the School of Nursing’s 120 anniversary.
