In recognition of October as Domestic Violence Awareness month, the School of Nursing Cultural Action Committee hosted a panel discussion, titled “What do I do now?: Domestic violence awareness for everybody,” on Oct. 22. The panelists discussed caring for victims and survivors of intimate partner violence, services in the Richmond area and individual attitudes toward intimate partner violence.

Thank you to panelists Candace Burton, Ph.D., RN, AFN-BC, assistant professor at the VCU School of Nursing; Kaylin Tingle, LGBTQ violence prevention health educator at VCU’s The Well; Caitlin Shifflett, trauma care social worker at VCU Medical Center; and Fatima Smith, director of community outreach & public education/RHART coordinator at the YWCA of Richmond, for taking the time to educate those in attendance.
