Three-time Alumna Lauren Goodloe Receives VNA Nancy Vance Award
Lauren Goodloe (B.S. ‘83/N; M.S. ‘88/N; Ph.D. ‘00/N), assistant dean for clinical operations at the VCU School of Nursing, was recognized with the Nancy Vance Award at the Virginia Nurses Foundation’s annual gala held Sept. 27 at the Jefferson Hotel. The Nancy Vance Award, the highest award given by the Virginia Nurses Association, honors and continues the legacy of Nancy Vance’s excellence in service. VNA presents the award to a nurse in Virginia who demonstrates character above reproach and unusual qualities of unselfishness in service.
“Dr. Goodloe is a consummate professional who has demonstrated her passion, skill and courage in delivering and advocating for quality nursing and healthcare for the past 33 years,” said Jay Douglas, executive director of the Virginia Board of Nursing.
Goodloe, who was sworn in as president of the Virginia Nurses Association on Sept. 26, is director of medical nursing and geriatric services and the administrative director of nursing research at the VCU Health System. She is an executive board member of the Children’s Miracle Network of Richmond, the Department of Internal Medicine at VCUHS and the Virginia Partnership for Nursing. She is also a board member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
