The leading expert in health policy research for palliative and end-of-life care in the U.K. will conduct a lecture at the VCU School of Nursing as a part of a summer-long appointment as a VCU Global Scholar. Jane Seymour, Ph.D.,  the Sue Ryder Care Professor at the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom, will be speaking on the topic “Looking Back, Looking Forward: Nursing and Palliative Care – A View from the UK” on Wednesday, June 25 from noon to 1 p.m. at the School of Nursing in room 1011. Faculty, staff, students and alumni are invited to attend.

Seymore’s Visiting Global Scholar Award, provided by the VCU Global Education Office, is titled “What Can Be Done to Improve Care for People with Advanced Disease? A Comparison of U.S. and U.K. Policy and Practice.” It is offered in partnership with the Division of Hematology, Oncology and Palliative Care at the VCU School of Medicine.

Seymour will spend her summer consulting with the clinical team and others in and outside of the VCU Medical Center, participating in the interdisciplinary rounds of the palliative care team and giving formal talks and presentations.
