Alison Montpetit, Ph.D., RN, assistant professor in the Department of Adult Health and Nursing Systems, was a member of a VCU Biomedical Research Delegation that recently visited the University of Córdoba (UCO) in Spain.  The delegation, led by the VCU Global Education Office, included representation from the Schools of Nursing, Medicine, Humanities and Sciences, and Engineering.  During their visit, the VCU delegation met with UCO administrators and researchers and toured research facilities to learn more about translational biomedical research at UCO.  The goal was to identify common research areas and generate ideas for collaboration.

“This trip provided a great opportunity to build on our current partnership with the UCO School of Nursing and to explore opportunities that will expand VCU SON research initiatives on an international level, all while strengthening our own VCU interdisciplinary partnerships,” Montpetit said. “There is great synergy between biomedical research at VCU and UCO and there are multiple opportunities for nursing science to make a significant contribution to the development of these new partnerships.”

VCU and UCO have a long history of collaboration.  A biomedical research delegation from UCO visited VCU in January of this year.
