Congratulations to VCU Nursing adjunct faculty member and alumna Melanie Binshtok, (M.S./N.P. ’10), R.N., B.S.N., a nurse practitioner at Cardiovascular Associates of Virginia (CAV), for being awarded the 2011 Sister Elizabeth Durney Award! The Durney Award is given annually to a physician, hospital staff member and a hospice staff member in recognition of the commitment shown to dying patients and their families. Nominations for the award, given in memory of Sr. Elizabeth Durney, CBS, who was instrumental in the founding of Bon Secours Hospice, are made by the Bon Secours Richmond staff-at-large to acknowledge practitioners who consistently go “the extra mile” in caring for this vulnerable patient population. Binshtok teaches Nurse 601 Adv Professionalization II at the School of Nursing.
