Last week six VCU Nursing students with Nursing Students without Borders traveled to Belize with 600 pounds of supplies and performed health screenings on over 300 school children. Every child received a goody bag of oral hygiene supplies, writing utensils, and fun items like stickers and stick-on tattoos. Each nursing student spent one day volunteering at a local clinic and met with a doctor in a nearby town to learn about the healthcare structure within the country. For fun, the students went horseback riding through the jungle, caving, and exploring Mayan ruins.
