On Thursday, Sept. 30, the VCU School of Nursing’s Community Nursing Organization will host a Family Fun Night at the Boys and Girls Club, located in the Church Hill neighborhood of Richmond. Held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., this event will feature activities for the whole family.
Sessions for parents and kids will focus on healthy eating, exercise, reducing risk for diabetes and other topics related to making good health decisions.
Faculty, staff and students from the VCU School of Nursing will support the event by providing educational sessions, information and fun activities for kids who attend.
“We’re excited to partner with the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club and talk with parents and kids about staying healthy. A healthy lifestyle sets kids up for a successful future that can positively impact all areas of their lives,” said Stephanie Ferguson, Ph.D., R.N., FAAN, associate professor at the VCU School of Nursing and coordinator of the Community Nursing Organization. “The VCU School of Nursing is committed to working with community organizations to improve health for families throughout Richmond.”
