Graduate Child Health Students Participate in School Readiness Day
On Friday, August 22, 2008, five graduate child health students and their faculty participated in the 6th Annual School Readiness Day at the Fan Free Clinic. The collaboration of the SON and the FFC began in repsonse to a community need to provide access to families whose young children needed physical exams an immunizations in order to be able start school on time. Each year this day long event has resulted in many children being able to start school with their peers. The event is staffed by advanced child health students and supervised by their child health faculty.
Students who participated this year were:
Amanda Bane, Shiaolin Cheng, Ashley Millham, Lizzie Thomson, and Lindsay Eggleston.
Faculty who participated were: Marie Chapin, Martha Hart, Debra Hearington, Debra Lyon, and Rita Pickler. Thirty-one children were seen at clinic for physicals and immunizations.
