Deborah received the Innovations in Clinical Excellence Award for her project, Preceptor as Connoisseur and Catalyst: An evidence based standard for Nurse Preceptors. The award was announced during the Society’s 39th Convention in Baltimore in early November, 2007.

Deborah’s project’s purpose was to develop and implement an evidence-based community standard for the preparation of preceptors across health care facilities. A systematic review and evaluation of the literature guided the creation of an interactive educational workshop and a series of quarterly “E-TIP{S” (e-TIPS: e-Teaching in Practice Strategies). The goal was to enhance the preparation of preceptors thereby enhancing nursing retention and patient care outcomes and well-being.
