Fan Free Clinic would like to welcome Allison Gregory as our new full-time Nurse Practitioner – a position being funded by the Virginia Health Care Foundation. Allison is a BS and MS graduate of the VCU Nursing School and an adjunct faculty member in the department of Maternal Child Nursing. Please join us in welcoming Allison to our Medical Clinic!
The addition of Allison to our staff will improve our continuity of care. With increasing numbers of chronic patients, and a volunteer corps of medical providers, it was often difficult to schedule patient follow-up visits with the provider who initiated treatment. Having a full-time licensed provider on staff gives patients and providers that consistent point of contact.
As one volunteer doctor put it during the grant process,

Clients build trust by having a consistent provider. That trust translates into better compliance with medical recommendations. A consistent provider would not have to re-invent the wheel with each client – he/she would have a better sense of that client’s strengths and weaknesses, what they can do, and what they can/will not do, and what has worked or not worked in the past. The provider also becomes more familiar with the community and clinic resources available to meet the client’s needs.

We are delighted to announce this step in the right direction as Fan Free Clinic dedicates itself to providing care to our growing patient case load, while turning away fewer clients.
