Book Arts featured at the launch of ‘UnLocking Potential’ campaign
VCU Libraries Book Arts Collection was a featured engagement zone at the launch of Unlocking Potential: VCU‘s Campaign for the Future. The campaign, with a goal of raising $1.8 billion, was announced September 18 at a kickoff event at the Stuart C. Siegel Center. Unlocking Potential is a call for investment in people, research, health care and community. It is aimed at opening doors to opportunity for VCU’s students and VCU Health’s patients through transformative education, pioneering discoveries and world-class care.
VCU Libraries’ Book Art engagement Zone featured a selection of the mail art collection given by Mim Golub Scalin (MS ’85, CHP) as well as a few examples from the Book Art Collection. Guests were invited to use provided materials to create a piece of mail art on a postcard and either send it to someone via the U.S. Mail or have it added to a collaborative project to chronicle the night of celebration.
The creation of a Book Arts Lab for student use is a major component of VCU Libraries’ portion of Unlocking Potential. To learn more about Book Arts at VCU Libraries, click here.
