New Resources for Filling out the Future Sharing Plan Page
New resources about the Future Sharing Plan page of the smartform are posted on the Help Tutorials and Videos section of the IRB website (from the Researchers page, click the link for Help Tutorials):
This 25-minute webinar (presented by John Horigan and Nina Exner on 4/2/2019) gives a overview of why we created this page and what investigators should think about while filling it out.
Creating a future sharing plan enables investigators and the institution to
- know what data may be shared, how, and with whom,
- show respect for participants by informing them in consent documents about how their data will and won’t be shared,
- protect participants’ privacy by ensuring that the data being shared does not involve “human subjects,” and
- maintain compliance with multiple sets of regulations and confidentiality requirements (human research regulations, HIPAA, FERPA, NIH policies, etc.)
Future Sharing Plan Worksheet and Example
This is a tool for investigators to use to systematically plan out their sharing. It also includes an examples well-written smartform responses.
NOTE:Examples are being provided for demonstration purposes only. Do not simply copy and paste these responses – your IRB submission must contain responses that are pertinent to your particular study and data.
