Important Transition Considerations:

Most active non-exempt research undergoing at least annual review will be required to transition to a protocol-based application in the coming months. This applies to studies submitted to the IRB before 7/14/23 that have used the extended RAMS IRB smartform in lieu of a study protocol document.

The HRPP is supporting a flexible, PI-initiated transition approach to accommodate study teams.

Visit the HRPP website New IRB review system: VIRBs (VCU IRB System) to learn more about transitioning to a protocol-based application. Reach out to [email protected] with questions about individual study requirements.

Thank you for your support,

Jill Opalesky, MS, ATR-BC, ATCS, CCRP

Interim HRPP Director
