José Luis Eca Fiestas

IMG_8733Recognized as a soloist, orchestral clarinetist and teacher, clarinetist José Luis Eca Fiestas has been a leading contributor to the musical life of South America for over twenty-five years.  As Principal Clarinetist of the National Symphony of Peru and E-flat Clarinetist of the National Symphony of Chile, Eca has appeared as soloist on numerous occasions, and has appeared as soloist with orchestras elsewhere in Peru, Chile, and Russia.  He continues to perform for Peruvian radio and television, to record the works of Peruvian composers, and to appear as soloist and present masterclasses throughout the country.

As Professor of Clarinet at the Peruvian National Conservatory, he has developed a culture of clarinetists who have built upon the foundation received from Prof. Eca, many of whom have succeeded at many of the major conservatories of the world, including Paris and Brussels.  Himself a graduate of the National Conservatory in Lima, his early study was with teachers Charles West and Hans Lewitus, and later with Luis Rossi in Chile and Valery Bezruchenko in St. Petersburg, Russia.
