The Belgian clarinet soloist and pedagogue Eddy VANOOSTHUYSE performs throughout the world with prestigious orchestras (I Pommerigi Musicali/Milano, Shanghai Symphony, Brussels Philharmonic, Lithuanian Chamberorchestra, Orchestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, Chamberorchestra of Philadelphia, Sofia Soloists, Vancouver Chamberorchestra,  Flanders Symphony,  Brussels Chamber Soloists, The Chamberorchestra, Slovak Sinfonietta, Columbus Symphony, Kansas Sinfonietta,  Caso Symphony Orchestra/Japan, Chamberorchestra of the Stanislavsky Theatre/Moscow, Simon Bolivar Orchestra Caracas,… ) and conductors including Yoel Levi, Peter Oundjian, Saulius Sondeckis, Jan Laethem Koenig, Michael Tabachnik, Jan Stulen, Paul Meyer, Anton Grishanin, …  Also important are his concerts with stringquartet (Vilnius Quartet, Ciurlionis Quartet, Daniel Quartet, Rubio Quartet, Ysaye Quartet, …), where he played for more than 100 times the Mozart Quintet among other works.

He performs on festivals as the Flanders Festival, the Festival de Wallonie, the festival of the contemporary music Ars Musica, the Vilnius Festival, the Festival de Bourgogne, the Klara Festival, the Festival of Ljublijana, the Beijing Festival, the Fesitvals of Vancouver, Los Angeles, Paris, Frankfurt, Kapetown, Caracas, …

He makes recordings for radio & television (BRTN, RTBF, VRT, VARA, Radio Suisse Romande, Magyar Radio, Czech Radio, Danish Radio, Lietuvos Radio, Chili Radio, Exqui) and for CD (SONY, EMI, DECCA, AEON, NAXOS, Phaedra, Gobelin, Aliud, Talent).   These recordings get outstanding comments in the international press.

Vanoosthuyse works with some of the most high standing composers of his generation as John Corigliano, Olivier Messiaen, Alfred Reed, Dirk Brossé, Hans Zimmer, Arturo Marquez, André Laporte, Jan Van der Roost, Nicola Piovani … and young great talents as Oscar Navarro an Bart Piqueur.

He was selected for the World Philharmonic Orchestra (Georges Prêtre) and invited for the Symphonicum Europae (New York, Lincoln Centre, Fisher Hall).  He was awarded by the ‘Chinese Clarinet Society’ and the City of Lima. In 2013 he got the ‘Torenwachtersprijs’ for his international high standing career,  in 2014 a ‘Golden Label’ for his recording with American Clarinet Concertos (Corigliano and Carter) and in 2015 the prestigious ‘Fuga Prize’ (Union of Belgian Composers).

Eddy Vanoosthuyse is the principal clarinet of the Brussels Philharmonic and the clarinet professor at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent (University College Ghent, School of Arts) and the Royal Conservatory of Liège.  He teaches masterclasses and is a guest professor at universities in 4 continents (also at international courses in Beijing, Qingdao, Lisbon, Chicago, Mexico, Santiago, Guimaraes,… and at Domaine Forget, Jonde, Il Sistema/Caracas, … ) and a jury member of important national and international competitions in Europe, America and Asia.

In 1999 he founded ‘The International Clarinets’, since then they made some CD recordings and toured in Belgium, Holland, France, Italy, Spain and the US.

Vanoosthuyse is the artistic director of the ‘International Clarinet Competition Ghent’, the president/artistic director of the ‘Clarinetfest Oostende 2018’ (the world clarinet festival of the ICA) and the vise-president of SWUK (Nonprofit organization that promotes young musicians in the beginning of their career).

He plays the Buffet Crampon clarinets and Vandoren reeds/mouthpieces exclusively.
