Claudia Sasso

Originally from Bordighera (Italy), Claudia began her studies at the Conservatory “G. Verdi” of Turin with the soprano Mariarosa Carminati, then studied at the CUBEC Academy of Modena with the soprano Mirella Freni. Later, she obtained a Master’s Degree in opera singing at the Conservatory of Perugia with the vocal coach and soprano Michela Sburlati with honors. She made her debut as Queen of the night in  Mozart’s work “Die  Zauberflöte” for the Tiroler Festspiele of Erl (Austria), under the  artistic direction of Maestro Gustav Kuhn. The soprano also played the same role for the Teatro Argentina in Rome, the San Carlo in Naples and Del Monaco in Treviso. She was Musette in “La Bohème” by G. Puccini for the Experimental Opera Theater in Spoleto and for a tour in Japan, under the artistic direction of Maestro Hiroo Hadame, at the Toyota City Concert Hall in Nagoya.

Her theatrical experience also includes the following titles: The work “Alfred, Alfred” by Donatoni under the direction of Maestro Marco Angius for the Lyrical Season of Spoleto. With the LTL project of the theaters of Pisa, Livorno, Lucca and Novara, she took part in the productions of “Tales of ‘Hoffmann” in the role of Olympia and  “The Threepenny Opera” as Polly. She has been the Cover in the role of Gilda for the Teatro Regio of Parma under the direction of Maestro Battistoni, on tour in the Sultanate of Oman (Muscat). For the Diderot project (Turin) she sang “Don Pasquale” (Norina), “L’elisir  d’amore” (Adina), “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” (Rosina) and “Lo zingaro barone” (Arsena) in collaboration with the Teatro Nuovo of Turin. In the Tuscan circuit she debuted in “Le nozze di Figaro” in the role of Susanna. She was also the first soprano to sing in the national performance of the works “Il piccolo principe” by A. Caruso and  “Solaris” by E. Correggia for the MITO Festival in Turin. During the Festival of Contemporary Music “Traiettorie” of Parma, she took part in the first Italian performance of “Frage” by W. Rihm, for soprano and ensemble, under the direction of Maestro Angius.

She currently collaborates with the Pavarotti Foundation of Modena, thanks to which she participated in the concerts in memory of the great tenor Luciano Pavarotti (last year held in Modena and live on Radio2 and this year at the Verona Arena and live on Rai 1) together with important artists such as Domingo, Carreras, Griminelli, Meli, Elio and many other artists of the lyrical panorama. With the Pavarotti Foundation show, called “Vincero” in memory of Luciano Pavarotti, Claudia sang for the international tournée, that includes the theaters of Oman, Romania, Bosnia and Indonesia. Once  again with the support of the Foundation, she participated in the show “Cantiere Opera”, by the director Francesco Micheli and Elio (delle Storie Tese), staged at the Teatro Niccolini in Florence. Claudia participated last summer at the GSIM Masterclass in Richmond (Virginia), offered by the Richmond School of Arts and later at the Bayreuth Festival (Germany), thanks to the Cercle Wagner of Nice (France). Recently returned  from the production of Carmen by Bizet, in the role of  Frasquita, for the traditional theaters of the Lombard circuit (Cremona, Brescia, Pavia and Como), Claudia played  the leading role for the show “C’era una bambolina” organized by Orchestra of Magna  Graecia staged in the cities of Taranto and Matera.

Among the upcoming engagements, Claudia will have a major role in the show “La Vestale di Elicona” which will be staged at the OGR in Turin and will include a tour in the Piedmont Region.
