Bruce Ming Pak

Violist Bruce Ming PakProfessor of Viola, China Conservatory Beijing.

Guest Principal Viola of the Central Opera House Symphony Orchestra Beijing, National Center for Performing Art Symphony Orchestra Beijing, and Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra. 1993 Pak join the San Diego Symphony. Two years later he become Principal Viola of Hong Kong Philharmonic, 2010 Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra invited Pak served as Principal Viola. As soloist Pak has play with Los Angeles Debut Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra etc., In 1997 Pak gives all Taiwan solo concert tour with the Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra.

Pak has won many international competitions, First prize in 1988 Hong Kong competition, Winner of 1990 Oberlin concerto competition, Second prize 1989 William Primrose international Viola competition, First prize 1990 Washington national Viola solo competition, in 1992 the first place in Los Angeles Young Musicians Foundation national competition of the year.

As a chamber music player Pak played in New York’s Carnegie Hall and Washington’s Kennedy Center with the New York Chamber Orchestra. 1994 Pak has invited by Maestro Sir Georg Solti, join the Orchestra Project in Carnegie Hall, and give two concerts at Carnegie Hall, both concert were record and released by the DECCA label.

2000 Pak serve as judge for the 4th Taiwan concerto competition, and he is consultants and judge for the Hong Kong Strings Competition Since 2009. Pak gives Master class and play in festival throughout Italy, France, UK, Spain, Germany, Brazil, Turkey, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, Macau, Hong Kong, US, Mainland China.

In July 2015, Pak gives solo concert at Beijing National Center for Performing Arts, he also played solo for the past two Chinese New Year’s celebration concert, and give the Master Class as well at NCPA.

National core publications “Musical Instrument” had an interview with Pak, and he was on the cover of the magazine as the person of the month.
