The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) opened a vacancy announcement on July 18th for a Physical Scientist, with experience in Forensic Science, to join our team! 


This position reports to the Forensic Science Standards Program Manager and will assist the NIST OSAC leadership team with strategic planning and program evaluation initiatives and provide forensic science subject matter expertise on standards development and implementation initiatives. This position will also manage the OSAC Scientific and Technical Review Panels (STRPs) where groups of forensic science practitioners, researchers, legal scholars, statisticians and human factors experts review draft standards and offer helpful upgrades to improve the quality of the document.  In addition, this position will support NIST’s forensic science training and quality assurance initiatives, including collaborations with internal and external stakeholders.

We are looking for exceptional candidates with direct experience in forensic science standards development in a standards developing organization or the Organization of Scientific Area Committees (OSAC) for Forensic Science; experience in performing testing/examinations in a forensic science laboratory; direct experience in supporting forensic science projects/programs, including managing communication among multiple forensic science disciplines or organizations; direct experience engaging with crime laboratories in the U.S. on forensic science examinations, training, or quality assurance.
