Forensic Scientist III/DNA- OH

Under direction, is responsible for serving as a subject matter expert and supervisor of assigned staff within a forensic unit, which may include one or more forensic specializations, or serving as the quality assurance manager for the laboratory; performs related duties as required.
This position will be in the DNA Section of the Crime Laboratory. The selected applicant will serve as the DNA Supervisor and Technical Leader for the nine approved forensic scientist positions in the section. In addition to the minimum qualifications listed in the job description, the applicant must provide proof of meeting the following DNA Technical Leader qualifications as listed in the FBI Quality Assurance Standards for Forensic DNA Testing Laboratories: a master’s degree in biology, chemistry, or forensic science related area with successful completion of 12 (twelve) semesters or equivalent credit hours from a combination of undergraduate and graduate coursework covering the following subject areas; biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, statistics or population genetics.
|Possession of a bachelor’s degree with significant coursework (21 semester or 32 quarter hours) in forensic science, chemistry, biology, computer science, computer forensics, or closely related field and five (5) years of forensic laboratory or digital forensic analysis experience.|
Substitution(s): A master’s degree in forensic science, chemistry, biology, computer science, computer forensics or closely related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience. A doctorate’s degree in forensic science, chemistry, biology, computer science, computer forensics or closely related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
