Mark your calendars for March 9-13 as the VCU Rams travel north to Washington, D.C., for the 2022 A-10 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Tournament tickets

Learn more about the tournament and get individual game tickets info from A-10. All-session books are available through VCU Athletics.

Capital One Arena Bag Policy: Bags, backpacks and purses will not be permitted inside the arena. Wallet-size clutches no larger than 5” x 7” and medical bags and parenting bags no larger than 14″ x 14″ x 6″ will be permitted. All bags permitted are subject to security screening. A bag check is now available for patrons whose bags do not meet the above requirements. The bag check is located near the corner of 6th and F streets. Space is limited, and a fee of $15 per bag will apply.

Virginia hoops train-to-tournament discount

Amtrak is offering a 25% discount on Northeast Regional Coach class. Tickets are on sale now through March 14 and are valid for travel March 7-14. Learn more and purchase tickets. 


Pregame Party

VCU Alumni hosts a pregame party, sponsored by Virginia Credit Union and the African American Alumni Council, to celebrate being back in person! Space is limited, and the event is sold out. Registration is required. Masks are strongly encouraged.

When: 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 11
Where: Penn Social, 801 E St. NW, Washington, DC 20004. Penn Social is a three-minute walk from the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro Station (Green or Red line) and an 8-minute walk from Metro Center Station (Blue, Orange or Green line).
Cost: $15, includes 2-hour open bar, buffet and VCU swag.

If you didn’t get a ticket to the pregame party at Penn Social, consider joining Ram fans at Jackpot D.C., 726 7th St. NW, Washington, DC 20001, before and after the game. There will be VCU swag! Happy hour is 4-8 p.m. with $2 off any beer and $5 rails. The A-10 tournament special drink is Bulleit Bourbon and the beer special is Blue Point Anytime Sunshine. Food is not available for purchase.


A-10 Kickoff Social

Join the VCU Alumni DMV, Richmond and Philadelphia chapters for the VCU A-10 kickoff social presented by Virginia Credit Union at Walter’s Sports Bar where we will have Rodney the Ram, VCU cheerleaders and the VCU Gold Rush Dancers. All VCU alumni, family and friends are invited.

When: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10
Where: Walters Sports Bar, 10 N St. SE, Washington, DC 20024 
Cost: Free. Food and beverages available for purchase.
Attire: Casual

Fan Headquarters

Meet at Penn Social before every VCU game to rally with Ram fans.

When: Before every VCU game; the first game will be the pregame party.
Where: Penn Social, 801 E St. NW, Washington, DC 20004. Penn Social is a three-minute walk from the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro Station (Green or Red line) and an 8-minute walk from Metro Center Station (Blue, Orange or Green line).


VCU Libraries “Futures” Tour

Join VCU Libraries for a special tour of the new Smithsonian exhibit “Futures.” Billed as part exhibit, part festival, “Futures” presents nearly 32,000 square feet of immersive site-specific art installations and much more. Following the tour, you’ll move to the “#IfThenSheCan – The Exhibit,” a monumental exhibit of 120 3D-printed statues celebrating contemporary women innovators in science, technology, engineering and math. Space is limited; register early.

When: 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 11
Where: Arts and Industries Building, 900 Jefferson Drive SW, Washington, DC 20560. The building is located on the National Mall and a five-minute walk from the Smithsonian Metro Stop (Blue, Orange or Silver line).
Cost: Free, but registration is required
