For the third consecutive year talented dental and dental hygiene students entertained alumni and friends with music, dance, and comedy at the Friends of Dental Education Dinner. On Friday October 24, over 200 people gathered in the Marble Hall of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts to celebrate and to honor people who contribute to the school with their time, talent or financial support.

Red, white and blue posters bearing the words, Vote for Dentistry, lined the gallery floors to emphasize the theme. In his opening remarks Dean Ron Hunt said, “Tonight the only party we care about is the party in this room.” After that he encouraged guests to lift the campaign hats in the center of the table, pick up a noisemaker and show support.

To bring more humor to the remarks, student volunteers walked through the gallery carrying an oversized caricature of Dean Hunt. Over the course of the remarks the students added their own artistic embellishments and good naturedly lampooned the dean.
