The video of the 2019 Fashion Show will be running on the Cabell Screen beginning June 11.

“Shimmer,” the 50th annual VCU Fashion Show, took place May 8 with presentation that included both small shows of about 50 pieces and the grand theatrics of the big show which included a sit-down dinner. The annual fashion show has always been a platform for students to exalt in what they have learned and glean experience in producing a show.

This year marks the 90th anniversary of VCUarts’ founding, and the 50th anniversary of the school’s fashion show. This annual juried event presents the finished work of fashion design students, as well as the strategic production talents of fashion merchandising students. Shimmer featured women’s sportswear, dresses, menswear, denim, embellishment, luxury, and surface design, all created by hand or with the assistance of industry-standard machinery. Clothing modeled on the runway includes the collections of senior design students and designers from VCUarts Qatar, the school’s campus in Doha, Qatar.

This years show’s special guests were Manhattan-based designers Abdul Abasi and Greg Rosborough of Abasi Rosborough and fashion illustrator Richard Haines, a VCU alumnus.
