Showing through Dec. 4lurch

Images of costume sketches, set designs and illustrations hint at the world of art underlying a theater production. TheatreVCU’s new production, “The Addams Family, A New Musical,” runs Nov. 11 through Dec. 4 at the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts. Broadway veteran Patti D’Beck directs this madcap musical.

Attendees will spend an evening with Gomez, Morticia and the rest of the Addams clan. Audience members are invited to dress in costume. As theater-goers pass Cabell Library, look up at the big screen and you’ll see:

  • Costume sketches by Hannah Chalman, M.F.A. student
  • Set design sketches by Kate Field, M.F.A. student
  • Illustrations for posters, programs and more by VCU professor Robert Meganck, a nationally recognized illustrator (His rendering of Lurch is at right.)
