EMBA students participating in an activity

This year’s Executive MBA calendar includes new residencies in Washington, D.C. and Japan, plant tours and offsite leadership sessions.

Experiential learning is at the heart of our Executive MBA (EMBA) program—where theory meets practice, and students grow through real-world business challenges. Over the past year, EMBA students have taken part in a wide range of hands-on learning experiences that deepen their understanding of leadership, innovation and strategy.

From immersive consulting projects to company site visits and global travel, students are learning by doing.

First-year students began their journey with an orientation that included an alumni panel—a signature tradition that sets the tone for the experience ahead.

“Making a real connection between current students and alumni is an important goal of the Executive MBA program,” said Butch Sarma, director of the Executive MBA program. “Current students always love this panel, and we’re always looking for alumni who can share their stories and inspire the next generation.”

One of the program’s most popular offerings is CEO Day in Scott’s Addition, where students visit local businesses and meet directly with founders and executives. If you’re a business leader in the area—or can host a group—we’d love to hear from you. Planning is already underway for the next cohort’s itinerary.

Our international residency continues to be a highlight, offering students a global perspective on business. In spring 2026, we’re headed to Japan. Alumni with international experience or global contacts are invited to speak at pre-departure meetings or help shape the residency experience.

We’re also excited to introduce a new Washington, D.C. residency in January 2027. This experience will focus on the intersection of business, policy and leadership. If you’re based in D.C. or connected to government, nonprofits or industry, we welcome your support in building this trip.

Meanwhile, our second-year offsite—formerly hosted at Luck Stone—is evolving into a new leadership retreat. We’re seeking alumni who can host or lead sessions that encourage students to reflect, grow and lead with intention.

“It’s essential that our students develop their leadership abilities and confidence not just through theory, but by learning from leaders who have walked similar paths,” said Dr. Chris Reina, MBA faculty director. “When students hear directly from those who have navigated complex challenges and made tough decisions, they gain perspective, courage and a clearer sense of what’s possible in their own leadership journeys.”

Finally, plant tours remain a cornerstone of the program’s operations and supply chain curriculum. If your company can host a tour or offer a behind-the-scenes look at your operations, we’d love to partner.

These experiences are only possible with the help of our alumni and business community. If you’re interested in getting involved, please contact our office—we look forward to collaborating with you.
