Students to explore career paths at Real Estate Expo

Over 25 employers will line the floor of Snead Hall to chat with students about the limitless potential of real estate.
Students interested in real estate careers will have the opportunity to meet industry professionals and explore potential job paths at the upcoming Real Estate Expo on Thursday, Feb. 27 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the VCU School of Business.
Hosted by the VCU Kornblau Real Estate (KRE) Program, the expo will bring together more than 25 companies representing various sectors of the industry, including commercial and residential real estate, property management and development.
“It’s important for us, as a program and as a school, to make sure our students have solid opportunities to step into the workforce when they graduate,” said Robert Taylor, executive director of the VCU Kornblau Real Estate Program. “And the thing is, they don’t have to leave Richmond to do it—there are great jobs right here. This expo is just one of the ways we help them make those connections.”
The expo offers a casual, interactive space where students can network, earn prizes and enjoy activities like a caricature artist and a Belgian waffle truck. The focus is on learning about career opportunities—no resumes required.
The event is free and open to all students, regardless of major. No registration is necessary.
About Kornblau Real Estate (KRE) Program
The origins of the Real Estate Program can be traced back to the 1950s when the first real estate course was introduced at Richmond Professional Institute. In 1969, the Alfred L. Blake Chair was established by the Virginia Realtors® Foundation of the Virginia Association of Realtors® and in the early 1970s the program was started. A significant milestone was reached in 2008 when the program was renamed the Kornblau Real Estate Program, thanks to the generous contribution of Sam Kornblau, a prominent Richmond businessman and philanthropist.
Today, the program offers a wide range of educational opportunities, including undergraduate and graduate degrees in real estate, as well as a graduate certificate program. It actively contributes to the real estate community by hosting events like the annual Real Estate Trends Conference, Real Estate Market Outlook and Spring Housing Forum Webinars, among other educational initiatives. Additionally, the Kornblau Institute serves as a platform for scholars to engage in impactful and high-quality research on various aspects of commercial and residential real estate.
