Every semester starts the same way: you walk into a room full of strangers, hoping you’ll sit next to someone you click with. Finding your community in college isn’t much different–it just takes stepping into the right room.
BOSS Days, happening Feb. 5 (12-3 p.m.) and Feb. 6 (3-6 p.m.) in Snead Hall, is that room. It’s an opportunity to explore student organizations, meet new people and see where you might fit. With seven new student organizations joining the lineup this year, there are even more ways to get involved.
Meet the new organizations
- DECA Inc. – For the ambitious and competitive, DECA helps students sharpen their skills in marketing, finance, hospitality and management, offering leadership roles and a shot at state and national competitions.
- Visionary Leaders of America (VLA) – A group for students who believe business and giving back go hand in hand. VLA focuses on leadership, philanthropy and community impact.
- International Business Association (IBA) – The world is bigger than Richmond. IBA connects students with global business insights, networking and career prep for international markets.
- First Gen Futures – A home base for first-generation college students looking for guidance in financial literacy, career prep and navigating life after graduation.
- Muslim Students in Business (MSB)– A supportive space for students balancing faith and professional ambition. MSB connects Islamic values with career-building opportunities.
- Home Building Association of Richmond (HBAR)– The go-to organization for students interested in construction and real estate, backed by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Think networking, internships and hands-on experience.
- Professional Selling Team at VCU – For students ready to close the deal on their future. This group develops real-world sales and marketing skills through competitions, networking and workshops.
These seven new groups will be joining 21 returning student organizations, creating a space where students can lead, connect and put their skills to work.
