VCU School of Business Commencement December 2023

On December 10, in the heart of the historic Altria Theater, VCU Business graduates embraced their moment. The rain outside couldn’t dampen the spirits of families carrying flowers and hastily typing “I’m proud of you” texts bringing a genuine, heartfelt buzz to the air. The day was about finding familiar faces in the crowd and celebrating the accomplishments of hard work and late nights.

In the moments leading up to the official ceremony, Dean Naomi Boyd, Ph.D., was spotted in the crowd of soon-to-be alumni sharing congratulations and laughter, adding a personal and warm touch to the occasion.

The theater came alive as students entered, greeted by an energetic audience with cheers and whistles resembling a rock concert. Among the lively celebration, graduates turned, scanning the crowd for familiar faces answering back with big waves and ear-to-ear smiles.

Dean Boyd, Ph.D., extended a warm welcome to guests and graduates, delivering words of inspiration. The keynote, Eric Cevis, President of Verizon Partner Solutions, addressed the graduates telling them:

“Tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”
