Call for Proposals + Info Sessions: 2019 VCU Fellowships for Undergraduate Research Due March 1st and 10th

It is time again to announce our funded fellowship opportunities for undergraduates interested in conducting research during the summer of 2019!
In addition to the UROP Fellowships we are pleased to offer fellowships funded by the Center for Clinical and Translational Research, the Division of Community Engagement, and the Institute for Inclusion, Inquiry and Innovation (iCubed)! As always, many thanks to these units for their support! Below you will find a brief description for each fellowship opportunity with a link to the full description. Full fellowship descriptions are also attached. Deadline for proposals is March 10th, 2019. Undergraduate Fellowships for Clinical and Translational Research

The VCU Center for Clinical and Translational Research (CCTR) will fund two undergraduate research fellowship awards for a clinical translational research project focused on human health and mentored by a VCU faculty member. A clinical translational research project is one that aims to translate scientific discoveries into improved human health and wellness. Successful proposals must discuss how the project will increase the student researcher’s knowledge, skills and experience while simultaneously attempting to advance human health through clinical research. Each fellowship award includes $1500 in funding for the student and $500 for the faculty mentor. Eligibility: Undergraduates pursuing research in any discipline(s). Undergraduate Fellowships for Community Engaged Research

The Division of Community Engagement (DCE) will fund undergraduate community-engaged research fellowship awards for research projects mentored by VCU faculty and carried out in collaboration with a community partner. Proposals for this fellowship should include a community-engaged research project that creates and disseminates knowledge or creative expression with the goal of contributing to the discipline and strengthening the well-being of the community. Each fellowship award includes $1500 in funding for the student and $500 for the faculty mentor. Eligibility: Undergraduates pursuing research in any discipline(s). Undergraduate Fellowships for Inquiry, Inclusion and Innovation (iCubed)

The Institute for Inquiry, Inclusion and Innovation (iCubed) will fund seven research fellowship awards for projects mentored by VCU faculty that fall within the seven iCubed Cores: 1. Oral Health 2. Health and Wellness in Aging Populations 3. Culture, Race and Health 4. Racial Equity in Arts and Culture 5. Education equity and excellence for African American and Latinx PK-12 students 6. Equity Marginalized Identities: Multiple minority identities (LGBTQTIA+ ability/class/race) 7. Urban Agriculture/Food Access. Each fellowship award includes $1500 in funding for the student and $500 for the faculty mentor. Eligibility: Work-Study eligible undergraduates pursuing research in any discipline(s) which aligns with the seven iCubed Cores. Undergraduate Research and Creative Scholarship Summer Fellowships (UROP)

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) will fund a variety of undergraduate student fellowship awards for projects in any discipline, mentored by VCU faculty. Successful student applicants will receive a cash stipend of $1,500 and $500 for the faculty mentor. Applicants must submit an online application no later than March 10, 2019 for review.
